Notes: This isn't our job; this is our overgrown hobby. Because of that, we'll be checking in and out of this thread in between work, classes, and whatever personal responsibilities catch up to us this Wednesday. That said, don't be afraid to generate discussion, ask questions, post silly animated gifs, and anything else you wouldn't do in any other open thread. Today should be a great day to be an Ole Miss Rebel, so let's celebrate that here.

Many of the top recruits in America are in Oxford this weekend and, so far, they seem to be enjoying themselves.

There are currently five different five-star rated recruits in Oxford, Mississippi right now to check out the Ole Miss Rebels: LaQuon Treadwell, arguably the nation's #1 receiver who is a solid Ole Miss commit; Chris Jones, the top player in Mississippi and a current State commit; Tony Connor, a South Panola product who is one of the top safeties in America; Laremy Tunsil, the top offensive tackle in the country and a presumed Georgia lean; and Robert Nkemdiche, who I have no doubt you all are already quite familiar with.

Along with them are a slew of other blue-chip recruits, including cornerback David Kamara, tight end Arshad Jackson, brand new Ole Miss receiver commit Quincy Adeboyejo.

Undoubtedly this is the biggest weekend of the recruiting season Ole Miss has had to date and, if Treadwell's Twitter feed is any indicator, all signs point to it going very well.

(Hint: It's the five-stars mentioned above minus Tunsil.)

One thing that cannot go unmentioned is the role that Nkemdiche (a foregone conclusion for probably a month now) and Treadwell seem to play in this recruiting success. One important thing to note is that so many of the guys they are hounding to commit along with them are guys they played with at the Under Armour All-American game. It seems that they developed relationships with their teammates and fully intend to use those relationships to bring their friends to Oxford with them.

In addition, when players of that caliber are legitimately interested in signing with Ole Miss, it adds a certain level of credibility to recruiting pitches, particularly those regarding the program's potential.

So, in a sense, LaQuon Treadwell and Robert Nkemdiche are Ole Miss' best recruiters.

I still can't help but be a bit overwhelmed by the recruiting excitement I've seen here and on social media. This is borderline EA Sports-level 'crootin for Ole Miss. As fans, we are certainly biased towards the offerings of Oxford and Ole Miss, but even then it is still exciting and surprising to see so many top-flight recruits who are genuinely excited about the possibility of being Rebels. Maybe that's just the WAOM-ness inside of all of us that causes our surprise, and I do think we all need to remind ourselves to temper our expectations a little bit, but for a change it is fun to be as confident and proud of Ole Miss football as we are right now.

Thought I'd mix a little bad news in with the good we've grown so accustomed to around here.

Charles Williams, a 6'2" 180 pound safety and wide receiver prospect ouf of the Miami area, has de-committed from Ole Miss and switched his verbal pledge to Charlie Strong's Louisville Cardinals club. He is rated as a three-star athlete prospect and one of the top-100 players out of the state of Florida by Rivals.com's recruiting services.

Louisville most notably won the Big East this past year before stunning the college football watching world with an absolute beatdown of the Florida Gators in the Sugar Bowl. Leading the Cardinals on offense is Teddy Bridgewater, one of many Miami natives already on the Cardinals roster. Clearly, as the former defensive coordinator of the Gators, Charlie Strong has made the recruitment of Florida one of his highest priorities as a head coach.

Williams was looked at by our coaches as a safety prospect, and will likely get a shot to work out at either that position or receiver if he sticks true to his commitment to Louisville.

Currently, the Rebs have commitments from defensive backs Nickolas Brassell (Welcome back, Nick. Please don't fail out.), Bobby Hill (Dammit, Bobby!), and Trey Bledsoe. Bledsoe, a two-way star out of Grenada, could also work out at receiver for the Rebels. In addition, the Rebs are believed to lead for South Panola star safety Tony Connor.

Elijah Daniel is set to announce his college destination Sunday at some point in the near future. It is believed to be a two horse race between Ole Miss and Florida with Ole Miss possibly holding a lead. The #121 player in the country is a significant pass rusher and would potentially pair quite well with nation's #1 recruit, the Robert Nkemdiche, should Nkemdiche choose the Rebels.

The only highlight film I could find on youtube was from his sophomore season, so it's tough to evaluate too much, but here it is:

He's in this video for just one play, but I thought it worthy of sharing. If you want to skip ahead, Daniel is at that 2:04 mark. It starts off with some epic Robert Nkemdiche plays too if you'd like to watch those.

USA TODAY Sports

Laquon Treadwell, the nation's number one high school wide receiver announced that he plans to attend Ole Miss.

Treadwell is the #1 receiver in the country according to Rivals.com and is ranked as a five-star prospect. The Illinois native chose the Rebels over offers from around the country, including a final pair of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. This commitment marks Hugh Freeze's first five-star commitment of the year - a group that will likely increase in size.

Laquon Treadwell is best described as a fast possession receiver, much like Donte Moncrief. Treadwell isn't a burner, but is capable of creating separation and uses his body well. He will obviously be incredibly helpful to the Rebels' efforts over the next few seasons to compete in the SEC West. Treadwell will immediately benefit from the presence of Moncrief, but he will have to work in the Summer to make a name for himself at a position in which Ja-Mes Logan and Vincent Sanders have already excelled. Unless he's absolutely phenomenal when he arrives, Treadwell is unlikely to leapfrog Sanders (at least initially), but there will be plenty of snaps to go around for the Ole Miss receiving corps.

The thing that stands out the most from his senior video to me is his ability after the catch. I knew he was a good and reliable receiver, but I guess you don't get ranked the number one receiver in the country without being able to do some incredible things. Here's a particular clip that stood out to me, showing his physicality as well as vision.

Looking back, it's incredible to think of what a difference one year makes. The program was in shambles last January. At no point was anyone entertaining the idea that a player the caliber of Laquon Treadwell would give the Rebels a serious look. Over the course of a year though, the Ole Miss coaches were able to convince Treadwell to visit Oxford. Then he visited again. Then he brought his momma along. Then he attended the Rebels' bowl game in Birmingham. Too often, people who look at or talk about recruiting make a big deal out of a prospect being a "fan" of a school. Here though, I honestly think that really does apply. It's obvious that Treadwell really, really likes Ole Miss.

Thankfully, Rebel fans are already pretty fond of him too.

Treadwell's commitment moves the Ole Miss signing class' ranking up to #11 nationally. Most fans and analysts alike expect the ranking to move up a bit over the next few weeks with the presumed addition of Robert Nkemdiche, among others. There's a good chance the Rebels end up with a top ten class nationally, an idea that was simply unfathomable when Hugh Freeze took over in Oxford.
