Top 25 ranked Ole Miss took the lead from the tipoff and never relinquished it in a 89-72 win over Southern Miss in a neutral site holiday hoops showdown.

The No. 25 Rebels (12-0) are one of only three unbeaten teams in college basketball alongside Houston and James Madison. Saturday’s game was never really in question as Ole Miss controlled the game over the Golden Eagles (6-6) from start to finish.

Matthew Murrell led the team in scoring with 26 points while also adding five assists. Juju Murray dropped in 21 points of his own going five of six from behind the arc. It was also encouraging to see transfer Brandon Murray score eight points on 2-2 shooting and 4-4 from the free throw line after finally becoming eligible.

Allen Flanigan logged a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points in the game. Flanigan and Juju both had three steals to lead the team.

The final non-conference game of the regular season is on New Year’s Eve in Oxford against Bryant University at 3 p.m. on SEC Network.
