RCR Signing Day Central: Ole Miss adds 21 signees with top 20 recruiting class

All the sharks, marlins and tarpon Lane Kiffin is reeling in this Early Signing Day

Anyone else panicking at the realization that it’s already December 20? I think I have all my Christmas shopping done, but there’s still that nagging feeling like I’m forgetting *something* super important.

You know who isn’t forgetting anything important today? Lane Kiffin, that’s who. It’s National Signing Day (or the first day of the early signing period, if we wanna be more boring but Technically Correct about it), and the Rebs are bringing in what looks like a generational haul of talent, between the high school, junior college, and transfer portal ranks.

While Ole Miss has been crushing it in the portal, its high school/JUCO class is also the strongest in the Lane Kiffin era, headlined by an elite group of defensive linemen.

First, let’s take a look at current commits who are expected to sign today:

Anthony Maddox, Oak Grove (MS) HS - SIGNED

Currently, the Rebs’ class ranks 20th in the country, 11th in the SEC. That does not include transfer portal commits.

The last few years, we’ve seen less and less signing day drama, and this year feels like no exception. There are only a couple of uncommitted recruits still on the board. The main name we’re waiting to hear about is Starkville, MS wide receiver Braylon Burnside. The four-star wideout was thought to be a heavy Ole Miss lean before committing to Mississippi State in June, then decommitting in November. Ole Miss was once again thought to be in the driver’s seat to land Burnside, but State has come on strong late, and seems to be the odds-on favorite as of Wednesday morning.

We’ll continue to update this post as more signatures roll in for Ole Miss, and will let you know if any surprises pop up.
