Folks, this is a game you should have every reason to sit back and enjoy.
Pop open a crispy boy, kick up your feet, and let the points upon points wash over you. If you’re in the Vaught like you should be or at least opine to be, go ahead and grab those BBQ nachos, get that third round of $10 beers, and realize we’re back in our happy place, our sanctuary for football every fall, after nearly 10 months off — some of us nearly two years.
Austin Peay is in the FCS Top-25, and they won its first game against No. 18 UT-Chattanooga last week, 30-20.
None of that matters.
The Governors do run an up tempo offense predicated on getting in as many plays as possible, not unlike the Ole Miss offense. In its first game, APU managed to get off 73 plays to a meager 58 for UTC. The Rebels also ran 73 plays in its 43-24 win over Louisville on Monday — this is going to be a game with a lot of points, a lot of offense, and it’s not time to panic if the Guv’s get a couple scores.
Maybe it’s just me living the dad life in Mississippi, but when I see the Austin Peay mascot, all I think of is that dang Mayor Humdinger from Paw Patrol.

Ole Miss fans, we don’t have much room to criticize how a mascot looks, but APU needs a revamp before my kids come out the stands ready to stomp a mudhole in the jerk who is always giving Ryder and the gang trouble.
Ole Miss absolutely needs to start fast, pile up points before the half, and get an insurmountable lead going into the second half. From there, a steady dose of Snoop Conner out of the backfield against a tired defense should help seal the deal for the Rebels today.
