A day after adding four-star Gautier (Miss.) offensive tackle Bryson Hurst to the 2022 class, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss kept the recruiting momentum going by adding four-star Seminole County (Ga.) athlete Nick Cull to the commit list.
The Donalsonville, Ga. native chose the Rebels over notable offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Nebraska, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Virginia among others.
Cull unofficially visited Oxford back in June and co-defensive coordinator Chris Partridge and the rest of the defensive staff did enough to sell him on being the next playmaker in the Ole Miss secondary. Cull does a little bit of everything in high school, but will most likely find his home on the defensive side of the ball at the next level.
Cull, who also plays basketball, is a fantastic athlete who is one of the most highly-sought after prospects in the state of Georgia. The 6-foot-0, 175-pounder is the 27th-ranked athlete in the 2022 class and gives Kiffin and Ole Miss yet another versatile football player to add quality depth to the roster next season.
Cull joins Marquez Dortch and Taylor Groves as the staff’s third commit in the athlete column and is another long, athletic prospect who do a number of things well on either side of the football. Ole Miss’ 2022 class is now ranked 43rd overall, per Rivals.
How does he fit in?
Cull is a very physical defensive prospect that loves to play close to the line of scrimmage and make plays in the run game. Normally, it can be a challenge to find defensive backs who are willing to do so, but not in this case. He is someone who has no qualms coming down in the box in run support while also having the athleticism and ball skills to drop back in coverage and help in pass coverage as well.
The newest 2022 commit is someone who can be versatile for this defense when he arrives on campus and that is something, with the constantly evolving style of play across the country, bodes well for him finding the field early and often.
