The Ole Miss Rebels landed just outside the preseason Associated Press top 25 released this morning.

Lane Kiffin in his second year as a head coach has propelled the Rebels into the fringe of the top teams in the country. Ole Miss received 106 points in the preseason poll with Oklahoma State receiving 107 and No. 25 Arizona State receiving 125 points.

In an absolute shocker (see: sarcasm), Alabama was ranked No. 1 among all the teams in the country and received 47 of the 63 first place votes. Oklahoma and Clemson both received six first place votes, Georgia claimed three first place votes and Ohio State nabbed one first place vote most likely from like the editor of the Columbus newspaper.

Ole Miss will kickoff its 2021 college football season in three weeks on Labor Day against the Louisville Cardinals who did not appear on the preseason AP Top 25.

Other opponents for the season ranked in the top 25 include No. 6 Texas A&M and No. 16 LSU. Liberty University and Auburn University also fell in the “others receiving votes” category with Ole Miss.
