Ole Miss baseball vs. Memphis 2020: Another dollar dog night, online streaming, and game time

Rebels and Tigers in Oxford plus more cheap sandwiches!

Josh McCoy-Ole Miss Athletics

Ole Miss will face a pesky Memphis Tiger team tonight in Oxford looking to extend its 10-game winning streak and solidify its top 10 national ranking.

The No. 9 Rebels (10-1) dropped its first game of the season to Louisville and have been on a tear ever since, winning each of its last 10 games with six more non-conference foes ahead of the SEC opening weekend against LSU. The chance to be 16-1 entering SEC play would be one of the best starts in recent memory for program, but first up is the Tigers (8-3) who went a perfect 4-0 last week.

Memphis boasts the reigning D1Baseball national player of the week in catcher Hunter Goodman who knocked three grand slams and 24 RBI over the four wins last week. Seems pretty good though Western Illinois was the opponent for three of those games and competition will be a little tougher tonight in Oxford. One common opponent for Ole Miss and Memphis so far is Xavier, who the Rebels swept, but the Tigers dropped two out of three to the Musketeers (what?).

The Tigers and Rebels typically play a home game in Oxford and a neutral-ish site game at Autozone Park in Memphis every year. Memphis does not play most of its home games there but reserves it for larger crowds.

Projected starters for tonight’s game is lefty Jackson Kimbrell for Ole Miss with a 4.50 earned run average. Memphis will send right hander Walker Brockhouse to the mound with a 4.70 earned run average and 10 strikeouts on the year.

Kimbrell will be making his third appearance on the year as a freshman out of Birmingham, Ala. He helped to no-hit Xavier earlier this season in one inning but was roughed up for a couple runs in an appearance against Southern Miss.

Ole Miss has climbed the charts to No. 8 or No. 9 depending on what poll you frequent and the Rebels are looking to extend its longest winning streak since winning 12 in a row in 2013. Last time the two teams clashed was in April 2019 with the Rebels winning 5-2.
