The Ole Miss Rebel basketball team will tip off tonight against South Carolina in Oxford.
We could go through all the in’s and out’s of this game, how badly Ole Miss needs to win it, and even provide some worthy insight into the state of each program.
But it’s Morgan Freeman night at the Pavilion with the first 1,000 fans receiving an Ole Miss themed Morgan Freeman bobble head. Freeman is a regular at Ole Miss basketball games, and also he’s pretty much the voice that should reverberate in your conscious and narrate your life.

With that in mind, instead of talking basketball — here’s just a bunch of Morgan Freeman quotes to prepare you for tonight.
“Just because you’re hurt doesn’t mean you’re broken.” (Wow, this is really just being an Ole Miss fan all rolled up into one sentence)
“There remains one task undone. One vital task the Founding Fathers left to their sons, before their thirteen colonies could precisely be called the United States. And that task, sir, as you well know, is crushing slavery.”
“We sat and drank with the sun on our shoulders and felt like free men. Hell, we could have been tarring the roof of one of our own houses. We were the lords of all creation. As for Andy - he spent that break hunkered in the shade, a strange little smile on his face, watching us drink his beer.”
“You measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you.”
“I once heard a wise man say there are no perfect men. Only perfect intentions.”
“Cities fall but they are rebuilt. Heroes die but they are remembered.”
“I find I’m so excited. I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it’s the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.”
And it’s totally normal if you read those and internally transposed it audibly into Freeman’s voice. Actually if you didn’t, you need to be lazier, watch more movies, and cherish the national treasure Ole Miss is celebrating tonight.
