After a perfect 4-0 week for No. 15 Ole Miss (6-1), they now welcome in the 6-1 Southern Miss Golden Eagle Mustard Buzzards. The sport’s greatest rivalry is almost always a doozy and figures to be another classic at Swayze Field this afternoon.
The Rebs swept Xavier over the weekend with a barrage of home runs and masterful pitching. Scott Berry’s club will bring a .262 team batting average but the real obstacle for them is the influenza virus.

Mike Bianco’s club outscored the visiting Musketeers last weekend, 35-3, and no-hit them on Friday night. Tonight, true freshman Wes Burton takes the bump and figures to try and make Pitching Ninja Twitter again.

The 6’8 California native is in contention for that first righty out of the bullpen or the midweek starter. Either or would be ideal as Burton has that plus stuff from a starter’s standpoint or as a reliever where he can go max effort for two or three innings.
Anthony Servideo aims to keep pace with his ridiculous start. The reigning National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball is hitting .500 right now with four home runs and 10 RBI’s. His 1.699 OPS is leading the clubhouse, but right behind him is junior college transfer sensation Cael Baker with a decent 1.303 clip. Mr. Kenny Powers himself has four homers and 10 RBI’s himself and has been a force in the middle of the lineup for Ole Miss.
Tonight is yet another opportunity for this young and inexperienced team to gain valuable innings and at-bats against a talented Conference USA opponent that will definitely give the good guys their best effort.
