3-star Erick Cade signs with Ole Miss over offers from Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M

Another massive lineman joins the 2021 class.

The Rebels are sitting at 18th in Rivals’ team rankings after a banner day on Wednesday. Now, they’ve added a humongous piece, literally, to their 2021 class now that Erick Cade has committed and signed with Ole Miss.

The Denton, Tex. native chose Lane Kiffin and the Rebels over notable offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas A&M among others. The Braswell High School product has been a key cog for the Bengals’ offensive line the last few years and looks to break into the two-deep along with his fellow signees Cedrick Nicely, Micah Pettus, and Jayden Williams.

This is another big-time lineman added to the class. Offensive line coach Randy Clements is obviously going after long and physical prospects to build off of the success the Rebels have had this season running the football and being physical at the point of attack. Cade gives them that and then some.

How does he fit in?

The 6-foot-7, 330-pounder is huge. Pure and simple. He mauls defensive linemen at the point of attack and once he gets his hands on you, it’s over. The length and raw power is there so guard could be a possibility if he can’t bend and reach for smaller, faster edge rushers. But, there’s no questioning the ability to get after you downhill on a run play.

I think once he gets in a college weight room and gets acclimated to the rigors of Power 5 competition, he can be a big piece to this offensive line in the coming years.
