JUCO WR Qua Davis signs with Ole Miss over FSU and South Carolina

WRU continues to reload.

Qua Davis-Hudl

After signing a trio of play-making receivers on Early Signing Day, Lane Kiffin and his staff weren’t done quite yet. Now, they’ve added a fourth signee to WRU, signing Itawamba Community College receiver Qua Davis. The Biggersville, Miss. native chose the Rebels over offers from Florida State and South Carolina.

The MACCC North Division First Team selection completed his 2020 campaign with 34 receptions, 583 yards, and seven touchdowns in just five games, eclipsing the 100-yard mark in every game but one for the Indians.

Davis joins a receiver room that has reloaded and then some, adding four-star Bralon Brown and three-stars Brandon Buckhaulter and JJ Henry.

How does he fit in?

At 6-foot-1, 210-pounds, Davis is someone who can arrive in Oxford and hit the ground running from a size and skill set standpoint. Qua is part of a new wave of slot receivers that has the size of an outside guy, but can maneuver in and out of cuts and get north and south with the football in his hands. He was utilized at ICC with inside screens and double moves, getting separation downfield and doing a ton of damage after the catch.

Elijah Moore will be departing after the 2020 season so receivers coach Derrick Nix must replace arguably the most productive receiver in the program’s history. Davis is someone who can certainly help supplement those results that are walking out the door. I anticipate him arriving in January and getting to work to try and crack the two-deep in Kiffin and Jeff Lebby’s offense.
