Ole Miss basketball will have its final game of a three game homestand against a winless Central Arkansas squad.
The Rebels (2-0) are playing a shortened non-conference season after two games were canceled due to COVID impacts on the program. Central Arkansas (0-4) was initially scheduled to play Ole Miss around Thanksgiving before being rescheduled.
Head coach Kermit Davis has to be pretty pleased currently with how his team is dominating so far with two blowout wins over Jackson State and UNC-Wilmington. UCA will be the third game the Rebels have played since last Thursday with a fourth game scheduled for Wednesday at Middle Tennessee State.
Senior guard Devontae Shuler will look to continue his hot start. The current scoring leader for the team at 20.5 points per game is showing he is taking on more responsibility offensively, but he hasn’t left his defensive game behind either. Shuler is averaging three steals per game this season.
Transfer forward Romello White had a breakout game against UNCW with 20 points while Luis Rodriguez chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds in his first ever double-double as a Rebel. The addition of these two players to the roster have been far more meaningful so far for a team which last year struggled in the paint and with rebounding.
Also, today marks Kerm’s birthday, so let’s go grab a W for coach.
Here’s the projected starters for tonight’s game:
- G - Devontae Shuler
- G - Jarkel Joiner
- G/F - Luis Rodriguez
- F - KJ Buffen
- F - Romello White
