Ole Miss fall athletics are in full swing and nearing the end of their respective shortened seasons. With championships and tournaments nearing closer, each team is looking to gain the momentum to finish out this weird 2020 season.

Soccer

The women’s soccer team was able to close out their home game schedule with a huge comeback win over Georgia on senior night.

Georgia took the early lead, but Ole Miss was able to fight back for a tie heading into the second half.

The Bulldogs were able to score again in the 63rd minute. Things started to look down for the Rebels, until Madisyn Pezzino was able to score one late off a free kick in the 83rd minute. The game was all tied up now, but the Rebs still weren’t satisfied.

The last minute of the game, the leftie Channing Foster took a free kick just outside the box, and sent the ball flying into the far upper corner to get the W. This win was much needed three points as the Rebels take on Vanderbilt next weekend in Nashville, and then prepare for the SEC championship tournament.

Volleyball

Ole Miss volleyball fell to 0-4 over the weekend after getting swept by Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Despite the loss, the Rebels were able to climb to their highest hitting percentage with .211 on Sunday. Samantha Schnitta, for the second match in a row, led the team in kills with 11.

The volleyball schedule looks a little different this year with Ole Miss only playing four SEC opponents twice in this season. The Rebels are trying to adjust after only having limited time to get prepared under new head coach/olympian Kayla Banwarth.

The Rebels will take on LSU next weekend in Baton Rouge as they hope to get a W in the win column.
