Ole Miss football recruiting: The visitors list for the Cal game is invading enemy territory

Another weekend with a nice mix of commits and targets.

Austin Frayser-The Dispatch

In another new series this season, we will be keeping you all in the loop with any and every recruit making their way to Oxford, Miss. for Rebel home games. Each week, we will pass along a list that has been compiled of who is expected to make the trek to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to take in a home contest.

After a couple weeks off due to light visitor lists, our brand new series is back with another list of notable names to keep an eye on this Saturday in Oxford. SELA was a light list for obvious reasons, but now the Rebels will entertain a ranked Power 5 non-conference opponent for the first time since 2012 when Matthew McConaughey and the Longhorns took over the Square.

This week we have a mixed list of attendees ranging from current 2020 commitments, 2021 targets, and 2020 prospects committed elsewhere. We will post their 247Sports profiles so if you would like to learn more about each prospect, simply click on their embedded profile in this here article and it will take you to their respective recruiting profiles housed at the aforementioned recruiting web site.

Week four expected visitor list (in alphabetical order)

The two enemy territory prospects in attendance are a pair of three-stars. 2020 three-star Daran Branch will be making the trip up from Amite, La. to take in the Rebs and Bears. The Miami commit has been on the Hurricanes commit list since March but he apparently wants to come up to see what Mike MacIntyre and the Landsharks have cooking. He also holds notable offers from Auburn, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

The other guy who will be crossing enemy lines is 2021 three-star pro-style quarterback Luke Altmyer. The 6’1, 180-pound Starkville, Miss. product will almost certainly be coming to Oxford to see how Rich Rodriguez uses Matt Corral to attack Cal’s top-15 SP+ defense. The nation’s No. 23 quarterback already has offers from LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss.

Two more notable names from the 2021 class will also be in attendance on Saturday. Three-star Neshoba Central (Miss.) running back Jarquez Hunter will be on the sidelines during pregame. Auburn and Tennessee both joined the Rebels and offered the No. 29 running back after his stellar sophomore campaign where he ran for 1,986 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Joining him from the 2021 class will be Magee (Miss.) athlete Chandler Pittman. The 5’10, 160-pound dynamo did it all last season, posting 1,300 all-purpose yards. He is also an impressive outfield prospect that Mike Bianco and Carl Lafferty will almost certainly be keeping an eye on for the next two years.

Stay locked in here for any changes or additions throughout the weekend because remember y’all...

Recruiting never stops.
