Mississippi State comes to Oxford for a rematch on Saturday

The Rebels shocked State earlier this season. Can they get back on track?

NCAA Basketball: Mississippi at Mississippi State Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

The last great game the Rebels played this season came in Humphrey Coliseum against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Since then, Ole Miss has struggled to play at an elite level for a prolonged period of time.

Make no mistake: just because this MSU team lost to the Rebels at home doesn’t mean you should assume it’s going to be a cakewalk when the Rebels get them in the Pavilion. These Bulldogs are a very capable team, led by guards Quinndary Weatherspoon and Lamar Peters. Aric Holman will likely be looking for revenge against Dom, who somehow held him very much in check all game and never let him even get to the basket much.

The Bulldogs, however, lost Nick Weatherspoon in a loss to Alabama when he came down awkwardly on his leg. While there was no structural damage, his return remains up in the air. Still, this team is strong.

If the Rebels can hold off these Bulldogs, it will go a long way in righting the ship.
