How to watch Ole Miss vs. Southern Illinois

Last week, Ole Miss’ win over Texas Tech highlighted some areas the Rebels need to improve in—namely being more efficient on the ground. Next week, Nick Saban’s ruthlessly efficient killing machine comes to Oxford.

It’s good then, that the Rebels get what amounts to a practice game on Saturday against FCS school Southern Illinois. No, the game won’t be close. Yes, by halftime you’ll probably already be bored of A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf ripping off 60-yard touchdowns. Yes, we created a drinking game to help you through it.

But, as our own Will Gates pointed out, that doesn’t mean this game is meaningless. Consider it a tuneup for Bama and beyond. While new running back Scottie Phillips racked up 200 yards on the ground against Tech, almost all of that came on a trio of big runs—the rushing attack was stagnant for most of the game. There was also suspect rushing defense (shocking, I know) and some inefficiency at quarterback. Whether Ole Miss addresses those shortcomings against SIU could be telling for the rest of the season.

So, yes, this game is worth watching. Here’s how to do so.
