Tuesday saw the release of 2019’s college football schedule for every team, and in addition to the Rebs’ customary SEC slate, Ole Miss’ campaign will include Memphis, Cal, and New Mexico State. Those latter two will go down in Oxford, while the Landsharks will have to travel an hour north to face Memphis again, for some damn reason.
Most notable here is the timing of the Arkansas game, which is in Week 2. That’s not nearly the right amount of college football time for things to get weird. Instead, it’s the perfect amount of college football time for things to get EXTREMELY WEIRD IN A HELL OF A HURRY. What’s more, Ole Miss hosts Cal not two weeks later. You wanna see fourth-and-25 twice in one month? These two games could produce just that wonderful chaos we all know and love.
Ole Miss’ 2019 schedule is officially the plot of Necessary Roughness.
The Egg Bowl will of course remain scheduled for Thanksgiving night, which is exactly where and when this spiteful matchup should unfold. The only people who complain about that particular timing are sportswriters, and they can go to hell. Even they enjoy working on Thanksgiving.
