Mike Bianco takes his No. 3-ranked Ole Miss baseball outfit up to Memphis on Wednesday for a midweek one-off that will never feel like a guaranteed win on the front end. That hesitance comes notwithstanding the Rebs’ 8-6 win over Memphis in Oxford back on February 20.
With the prospect of foul weather blasting through the tri-state area on Tuesday evening, both clubs elected to preemptively move the game back to Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CT. The Oxford Eagle’s Davis Potter reports that Houston Roth will get the nod to start in AutoZone Park.
The Tigers are currently struggling with a 9-19 record on the year, and they’re welcoming in yet another SEC midweek opponent on Wednesday, after dropping an 8-7 nail-biter to No. 5 Arkansas last week. That Arkansas loss marks the Tigers’ 14th win this year by fewer than three runs.
Memphis has won back-to-back games only twice this season.
