Matt Corral is parlaying his birthday into doing some last-minute recruiting

The four-star signee is doing his best to get the Rebs in the top 25.

Ole Miss is in the stretch run of the 2018 recruiting cycle, hosting their last crew of official visitors this weekend. As it stands right now, the Rebs are sitting at 33rd nationally and 9th in the Southeastern Conference per 247Sports. They are still waiting on anywhere from 4-to-6 more decisions to close the door on this class, but now the coaches are getting some help to do so.

Four-star signee Matt Corral recently celebrated a birthday and the love was pouring in on his Twitter timeline. He reciprocated with a lot of “thanks bruh” and “preciate that fam” and some inside jokes with close friends from back home in California. But, then the love started pouring in from fellow recruits. Fellas like Clemson signee and five-star quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

And then he got a shout out from fellow Elite 11 alum, former Ole Miss target, and Washington State signee, Cammon Cooper.

Hell, even former Super Bowl winning quarterback and Elite 11 coach Trent Dilfer sent him some dap for another lap around the sun.

But, then Corral started returning the messages from prospective Ole Miss signees with some recruiting of his own. He sent this one out as a “hey, uh, you dudes wanna hang 60 on people in the Vaught” kind of tweet.

For those that aren’t familiar, he’s tweeting at four-star receiver targets Miles Battle, Michael Ezeike, and Tommy Bush. All three are major targets that have or will visit campus already and would be HUGE to sign on February 7th for coach Jacob Peeler.

He then turned his attention to the offensive line to a target that visited a few weeks ago. Despite being thought by most to be headed to Chapel Hill, four-star offensive tackle William Barnes is still keeping folks in the dark a bit with where he will sign. And Matt took advantage and shot his shot.

Earlier when he was reaching out to potential teammates to split out wide and/or work in the slot, he forgot one big name: four-star receiver Marquez Ezzard. But not to worry, the four-star pass-catcher from Georgia made sure to reach out to Corral on his G-Day and Matt hit him back with some recruiting smoke.

Not a bad sales pitch if you ask me.

The coaches are doing a fine job recruiting a year removed from a postseason ban and several NCAA penalties, but now that their prized signee and U.S. Army All-American signal caller is ALSO on the Twitterverse doing what coaches can’t, it could make a splash or two on National Signing Day next Wednesday.

Maybe we had it all wrong. Maybe it’s not Phil Longo who has the bag. Maybe it’s Matt Corral who does. And now he’s transportin’.
