Faffing Friday Forum

Yes, "faffing" is a real word. Read a book for once in your life.

Ok, so Wednesday sucked, there's no light at the end of the tunnel football-program-wise, your kids/wife/husband is/are annoying the shit out of you for weird holiday reasons (like my wife who's apparently taking our dog to see Santa today at Petsmart while I work) and you probably still have to do some holiday shopping. How do you cope? High proof whiskey, son!

Here are a few options you may have to hunt a little for, but should be both delicious, relatively-obtainable, reasonably-priced and strong enough to numb you up right for the holidays:

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof - Batch B518 clocks in at 133.4 proof with an MSRP of $65. Great balance of fruit, spice, oak and caramel notes with a sweet palate longevity and smoothness that will shock you at this proof.

Stagg Jr. - My current bottle is 129.5 proof, though they usually hang between 124-127. MSRP of $50-55. Rich chocolate and dark fruit notes over the traditional caramel/vanilla, especially if you hit it with literally 2-3 drops of water and let it sit out for 10-15 minutes.

Old Ezra Barrel Strength - 117 proof with an MSRP of $35-40. Luxco is replacing the OE101 variant with this newer release, and we're all better off for it. Full flavor with heavy notes of oak, vanilla, dark cherries, sweet apples and terrific balance for under $40...just buy it.

Merry Early Christmas, Y'all!
