On Aug. 1, 2018, betting on sports became legal in Mississippi. Federal and state law now protect your God-given right to drive to Biloxi and blow hard-earned money on the over/under of some Tuesday night MAC game. To help guide you through the first season of legal college football gambling (because you certainly weren’t taking advantage of gray-area internet gambling sites before!), we’ve set up this weekly betting guide.
The betting guide went .500 last week, putting us at 15-19 for the season.
A perfect week is finally upon us.
Ole Miss doesn’t play, so I’m not chained to making a pick on the beloved Rebels. There are games with MASSIVE playoff implications this week, and there will no doubt be a ton of action on those games.
I’ve got a pick for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and a few picks off the beaten path this week to take us from the outhouse to the penthouse.
No. 23 Utah at UCLA
Take UCLA to COVER the 10.5-point spread
Here’s your Friday night special. After dropping its first five games (two of those by a touchdown or less), UCLA has rallied to win two straight. The Bruins are getting better every week and Utah is 1-2 away from home this season. I’m not telling you to take UCLA outright, but this one will be closer than expected.
No. 9 Florida vs. No. 7 Georgia (in Jacksonville)
Take the UNDER at 52 points
Georgia is getting seven points in this game, and I would just stay away from that line. UGA blew the doors off Florida last season on its way to an SEC title, but this year’s game will not have a large margin. Both teams have shown sputtering offenses at times and Dan Mullen and Kirby Smart are going to be wound tight for a game that could decide the SEC East. The under has hit on this game in five of the past seven years and I’m betting on it again this year.
Arkansas State at UL-Lafayette
Bet Arkansas State to WIN at -155
ASU has a few losses, but two of them are to top-25 Alabama and Appalachian State. They are talented indeed, and they have the offensive firepower to score 30-plus points on just about anybody. ULL can also put up points and even scored a whopping 14 on Alabama a few weeks back. The home crowd isn’t a factor here and Arky State pulls it off on the road.
Hawaii at Fresno State
Bet the OVER at 59 points
Just hear us out.
Hawaii is scoring 34 points per game this season, while Fresno is no slouch at 31.2 points per game. The Bulldogs are sitting at 6-1, controlling their own destiny in the Mountain West Conference, but Hawaii can play spoiler as they sit with only one conference loss. I expect a lot of points for two teams very motivated to play post-season football.
What’d we get right this week? Have you completely lost your faith in our picks? Comment or tweet @RedCupRebellion with what you’re betting on.
