YO IT’S WEEK 2 AND YOUR MANAGING EDITOR IS TWEETING AND WRITING ASTRIDE A WEATHER BALLOON TWIRLING THROUGH THE DIRECT CENTER OF HURRICANE IRMA. I MAY STAY HERE FOREVER BECAUSE IT’S WILD, Y’ALL. HERE’S WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK, EVEN THOUGH I DON’T HAVE A TV UP HERE. WHEEEEEEEE.
Oklahoma and Ohio State played a tsunami of a football game in 2016, with Urban Meyer’s men laying a historical beatdown on poor Bob Stoops (RIP), 45-24. The Sooners were 1-2 going into that rat pit, the Bucs undefeated. Ohio State racked up 21 points in the second quarter and garbage time started early. College football is fun!
Anyway, these two brutes are getting together again this year, and Ohio State is ranked No. 2 to Oklahoma’s No. 5. Lincoln Riley graduated high school in, like, 1998, and this particular millennial wants to wreck Urban Meyer’s weekend. Urban is literally his father, and so Sigmund Freud will most certainly be in attendance in Columbus.
So what we’re saying here is that you should watch it. It’s at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC and WatchESPN.
Georgia at Notre Dame, 6:30 p.m. CT, NBC (streaming at NBC Sports)
Bulldogs! Fighting Irish! In South Bend! This one will most certainly get weird in a hell of a hurry. Also, GO BET ON THE DAMN THING.
Auburn at Clemson, 6 p.m. CT, ESPN (streaming at WatchESPN)
THE TIGER BOWL. Remember how crazily wonderful this thing was last year? HOPEFULLY MORE OF THE SAME, JIM. Auburn’s defense could legitimately shut down what is still a potent Clemson offense. And that would be hilarious.
Nebraska at Oregon, 3 p.m. CT, FOX (streaming at FOXSportsGo)
Oregon will undoubtedly will this thing, because it’s happening at the oddest time of day (1 p.m. local time), and Nebraska’s defense is the hottest of butters. A Big Ten team shredded by a Pac-12 team on the latter’s home turf should become college football tradition, and honestly we can’t wait for it.
Memphis at UCF, 5:30 pm CT, ESPNU (streaming on WatchESPN)
One of these coaches will be head man at a Power 5 spot someday.
Indiana State at Tennessee, 3 p.m. CT, SEC Network (streaming at WatchESPN)
Why are you doing this to yourselves, Tennessee? You’re undoubtedly going to struggle with this team, whoever they are, notwithstanding your dramatic upset (?) of Georgia Tech in Atlanta last Monday. This will hurt to watch and the final score will be 20-17, Sycamores. Larry Bird got run out of Bloomington by Bobby Knight and owned at Indiana State. Finally, Timothy McVeigh was executed in Terra Haute, SO DEATH CLUB COMING.
TCU at Arkansas, 2:30 p.m. CT, CBS (streaming at CBS Sports)
This game is always like shotgunning beer after beer for four hours straight.
Boise State at Washington State, 8:30 p.m. CT, ESPN (streaming at WatchESPN)
