Podcast Rebellion: Ole Miss was robbed in 2007 when they played Bama

Associated Press sports reporter David Brandt joins to discuss the tragic loss to Alabama 10 years ago, the possible opening in 2018 and preview the 2017 season.

Ole Miss officially opened up the season with the start of fall camp on Wednesday. Interim head coach Matt Luke met with the media to address the recent troubles with the law, his expectations for this year’s team and how he wants his team to play in 2017. One of those media members that Luke spoke to at The Manning Center yesterday was David Brandt from the Associated Press. And after listening to him and his players, he spoke with us.

Brandt’s first ever game to cover at Ole Miss was one we know all to well as Ole Miss fans. The 2007 edition of the Rebels vs. The Crimson Tide a.k.a. The Red High Heel Game. The AP reporter talks about that experience, watching Ed Orgeron in his last season at the helm of a SEC program (until LSU hired him lol), dodging bourbon bottles and co-ed footwear that almost took his head off.

We also discuss several other topics including how he thinks the 2017 Ole Miss team will play, what to expect from Wesley McGriff’s defense, how many wins he thinks are achievable, how good is the Ole Miss job and who could potentially replace Matt Luke in 2018. And yes, of course, we grilled him on the important topics like hot dog condiments, The Beacon, best burger in town and the NCAA.
