Ole Miss resumes the winter slate on Friday against the Bradley Braves, in their last non-conference tilt before meeting South Carolina in Oxford on New Year’s Eve. At 6-5, the Rebel hoopmen have yet to really impress in the early season, and they’ll need some kind of significant turnaround in the SEC slate to even earn consideration for an NCAA tournament spot. That will be harder said than done.
Bradley has carved up their early conference schedule to sit at 10-2 on the year. Those losses came at the hands of Vermont and San Diego State. This latter consistently earns tournament bids and will scare the hell out of teams with regularity. The Braves look impressive through the winter stretch, and they currently rank No. 27 in the country in three-point shooting percentage.
The Braves are giving up the fifth-worst number of points allowed per game, which should be the Rebs’ point of entry on Friday night. Andy Kennedy is pissed, and a final win before the conference season starts up would certainly help ease his mood before the holidays.
