Ole Miss hoops returns to The Pavilion for a sizable home stand to round out their non-conference slate, beginning with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Aw.

At 4-1, the Basketsharks are sitting fairly okay thus far in the young season, with just a single loss to Utah last Monday night in Las Vegas. Utah is a consistent tournament team, and while a win over the Utes would have gone some distance toward an early season resume builder, the Rebs still have enough left on the non-conference schedule to pick off some worthy names to float them into the dance next March.

One remarkable stat to throw off without context here: the Rebs are currently second in the SEC with 8.4 steals per game. They nabbed six in the season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette and nine in the losing effort against Utah, which makes that loss all the more of a head-scratcher.

The Rebels will face down SDSU on Tuesday in Oxford, who failed out of the WCC’s first round last year against Gonzaga, who themselves would go on to lose to North Carolina in the big dance final. Should be fun.
