National Signing Day is almost upon us, which means it’s time for the folks here at Red Cup Rebellion to stop pontificating and start predicting. And while the NCAA investigation has significantly handicapped this class, we think there’s a decent chance that Hugh Freeze manages to address some needs on Wednesday.
To get a sense of which recruits might end up signing with Ole Miss, myself, Zach Berry and Whiskey Wednesday each assigned confidence points to Rebel commits and targets, then averaged those together to produce an overall confidence rating for each ‘croot.
Here's the point scale we used:
5 = He's a lock
4 = Feelin' good
3 = Leaning toward Ole Miss
2 = Leaning away from Ole Miss
1 = Don't hold your breath
0 = lol nope
Here are the results, ranked in order of most confident to least confident (all star ratings are from the 247Sports Composite).
They’ll be Rebels
Recruit | Stars | Current status | Confidence |
---|---|---|---|
Recruit | Stars | Current status | Confidence |
OT Ben Brown | 3 | Committed to Ole Miss | 5.00 |
QB Alex Faniel | 3 | Committed to Ole Miss | 5.00 |
S A.J. Harris | 3 | Committed to Ole Miss | 5.00 |
CB Jamar Richardson | 3 | Committed to Ole Miss | 5.00 |
ATH Kam White | 3 | Uncommitted | 5.00 |
LB Josh Clarke | 3 | Committed to Ole Miss | 4.67 |
LB Mohamed Sanogo | 3 | Uncommitted | 4.33 |
OT Tony Gray | 3 | Uncommitted | 4.00 |
RB Cordarrian Richardson | 4 | Uncommitted | 4.00 |
CB Eric Stokes | 3 | Uncommitted | 4.00 |
We’re feeling good about Cordarrian Richardson, a top-10 running back who said during his official visit last week that he’s “90 percent sure” he’ll end up signing with Ole Miss. Kam White remains uncommitted but sounds like a lock and we feel confident that Mohamed Sanogo, who could be an early contributor at middle linebacker, will pick the Rebels over State.
It’s a toss-up
Recruit | Stars | Current status | Confidence |

Recruit | Stars | Current status | Confidence |
DT Larrell Murchison | 3 | Committed to Ole Miss | 3.33 |
CB Jaylon Redd | 4 | Committed to Oregon | 3 |
DE Chester Graves | 3 | Uncommitted | 2.67 |
LB Daniel Green | 3 | Uncommitted | 2.67 |
WR JaVonta Payton | 3 | Uncommitted | 2.67 |
DT Josh Rogers | 3 | Uncommitted | 2.33 |
WR D.D. Bowie | 4 | Committed to Ole Miss | 2 |
The Rebels top commit, D.D. Bowie, has voiced public trepidation about the NCAA investigation and has become very cozy with Mississippi State over the last few weeks, taking an official visit to Starkville and hosting Dan Mullen for an in-home visit. He remains nominally pledged to the Rebels, but we think he’ll pick up a State hat during his Signing Day announcement.
On the other hand, we think Larrell Murchison will withstand the tug of Georgia and stick with Ole Miss. His relationship with new Rebel D-line coach Tray Scott could be the difference-maker.
Ain’t likely

OT Stephan Zabie | 4 | Uncommitted | 1.67 |
OG Lavante Epson | 3 | Committed to Ole Miss | 1 |
OLB Kaleb Oliver | 3 | Committed to Georgia Tech | 0.67 |
CB Chevin Calloway | 4 | Uncommitted | 0.33 |
LB Willie Gay | 4 | Uncommitted | 0.33 |
Sure, former Ole Miss commit Willie Gay has claimed the Rebels are still in his top two, but we figure it’s a two-horse race between LSU and his hometown school, State. Word has it that Lavante Epson could be sliding off the hook, though that could potentially be a sign that Hugh Freeze’s staff feels good about Stephan Zabie, who was in Oxford over the weekend for an official visit.
