The Rebs turn their attention to yet another top 15 team this weekend. But, do you think a slow start out of the gate can slow down the crootin? Nope! Take that, NCAA! Freeze and his staff are still bringing in top talent for Saturday’s game.
A win over Georgia could help restore the psyche of the team and show these high-profile croots that the Rebs magic ain’t dead. And by high-profile croots we’re talking two five-stars and two four-stars.
Below is the list of unofficial visitors that may or may not show. There will certainly be other Ole Miss targets in town for the weekend, and once we’re able to confirm them with a non-paywall source, we’ll update this post accordingly. This list does not include the several Ole Miss commits that will be in town for the game.
All ratings are from the 247Sports composite.
5-star Walker Little
Overall rank: 26
OT rank: 6
Hometown: Bellaire, Tex.
Little is a 6’8, 305-pound example of what a Power 5 offensive tackle is supposed to look like. Walker, who will travel to Oxford, is the Rebels’ top offensive tackle target along with five-star Trey Smith. He has a top three of Ole Miss, Stanford and Texas and things are starting to get interesting. He seems to value the Cardinal and their education but he also has family ties to the Rebs.
4-star Todd Harris
Overall rank: 76
FS rank: 8
Hometown: Plaquemine, La.
The playmaker from the Pelican State who trolled everyone earlier this summer by committing to his own high school will be in the Velvet Ditch to take in the Georgia game. He will be paying attention to Zedrick Woods, Deontay Anderson and Tony Conner and see how the Rebs utilize their DBs. His crystal ball still sits at 100 percent for LSU, but coach Jason Jones has made him a priority.
4-star Will Ignont
Overall rank: 206
ILB rank: 8
Hometown: New Market, Ala.
The rangy linebacker from the Yellowhammer State has been to Oxford before, but this time, there might be some actual interest. After most thought that he would commit to Alabama, the Tide have quickly gained three commitments from linebackers. Auburn holds the edge right now, according to his crystal ball (71 percent).
4-star Patrick Queen (LSU commit)
Overall rank: 279
ATH rank: 15
Hometown: Livonia, La.
There have been rumblings for months that the LSU commit would be flipping to Ole Miss, to the point that his Crystal Ball sits at 50-50 between the Rebs and Tigers. Let’s see if his trip to Oxford this weekend is enough to sway him.
