College football Week 4 viewing guide: BERT goes to Arlington

This week we’re checking out Florida-Tennessee, LSU-Auburn and USC-Utah

NCAA Football: Arkansas at Texas Christian Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Week 4’s college football slate may very well outdo Week 3’s in terms of pure watchability. The big Thursday night game — an ugly Georgia Tech loss at the hands of Clemson — rated high as appointment viewing, and three big ranked-ranked showdowns are on the docket for Saturday.

Ole Miss and Georgia commence festivities at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN (and WatchESPN), and they’ll share the early TV block with No. 11 Wisconsin at No. 8 Michigan State (Big Ten Network and BTN2GO). Sparty is favored by five at home, so please go empty your life savings on Michigan State to cover.

ANYWAY, after Thursday’s pretty alright appetizer, why don’t you dive into a secondo of USC at No. 24 Utah on Friday night (8 p.m. CT, FS1 and FOX Sports Go). This game carries a high Trojan schadenfreude factor, which we’ve been mainlining since the Week 1 BAMA WHIPPIN’ they endured in Jerryworld. The Utes haven’t blown people away yet this season, but Oddsshark has them favored by 10.5. Bet the under; hope for the over.

Here’s what else we’re keeping tabs on during Week 4.

No. 13 Florida State at USF

11 a.m. CT, ABC (Live streaming at WatchESPN)

This’ll probably put you past your FSU saturation point, but after last week’s thrashing by Louisville, and after a handful of injuries chipping away at the Noles’ depth chart, USF might hang around for a little while. Or, a humiliated Jimbo Fisher might strut into Tampa with a blow torch, burn the place down, and buy the Columbia restaurant just so no one else can eat there.

No. 19 Florida at No. 14 Tennessee | Penn State at No. 4 Michigan

2:30 p.m. CT, CBS (Live streaming at CBS Sports) | ABC (Live streaming at WatchESPN)

There’s no way in hell this turns into the live ordnance shelling that was last week’s CBS game of the week, but Uncle Verne and Gary swing through Knoxville Saturday afternoon to watch round two of what was a crazy slugfest last year. If Butch Jones ends up blowing this one, his chair at Rocky Top grows MUY CALIENTE, AMIGO. If he squeaks outta there with a win, the Vols are the nominal favorites to win the SEC East and what the hell did I just write.

If that matchup is too orange for you, slide on over to ABC to catch Jim Harbaugh eating a live human child because of ALL THESE DAMN PROCEDURAL PENALTIES.

No. 18 LSU at Auburn

5 p.m. CT, ESPN (Live streaming at WatchESPN)

PILLOW FIGHT ON THE PLAINS. LOSER GETS HIS ASS FIRED. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS ONE, BETTORS.

South Carolina at Kentucky

6:30 p.m. CT, SEC Network (Live streaming at WatchESPN)

Just to remind yourself that football like this still exists.

No. 17 Arkansas “at” No. 10 Texas A&M (Arlington, Texas)

8 p.m. CT, ESPN (Live streaming at WatchESPN)

Aggies are favored by six, which feels just about right. Both teams are undefeated and trending up. Jerryworld. This one’s going to be a hellraiser of game, and wherever you are Saturday night, at least keep Arky-A&M close by.
