Watch 5-star Ole Miss target Cam Akers score 5 TDs against South Panola

With Chad Kelly and a crew of former Rebels watching from the sideline in Batesville, the best high school football prospect in the state of Mississippi opened his senior season with a bang.

There were times on Thursday night when Cam Akers appeared to be running on one of those moving walkways in the airport as he blew through the defensive secondary of Mississippi's No. 3 ranked team. South Panola just couldn't keep up.

Akers racked up five touchdowns—three passing, two running—to spark No. 2 Clinton's 38-26 W in a top-3 clash on the opening night of the 2016 Mississippi high school football season. A do-everything quarterback for his high school club, Akers will move full time to running the ball for his college team... which could very well end up being Ole Miss. 247Sports currently rates him as the No. 2 running back in the country and the nation's No. 9 player overall. Akers' performance on Thursday prompted Rick Cleveland, a veteran Mississippi sports writer who saw Walter Payton and Marcus Dupree play back in the day, to write "these eyes have never seen a better Mississippi high school football player."

Also watching in person was Chad Kelly and Issac Gross, who drove down the road to Batesville with a crew of other current Rebels.
