Red Cup Investigates: WHAT IS HUGH FREEZE HIDING IN THIS HOLE?

Last week, esteemed Red Cup colleague Zach Berry alerted me to an event that was recorded on the time-lapse camera overlooking the north end zone construction in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The event, reeking of suspicious activity, involved a group of people digging a hole in the corner of the south end zone.

It’s possible this digging was part of a repair job on a leaky pipe, but without calling to inquire (and rest assured no such effort will be made), we don’t know if that interpretation is accurate. In order to get to the bottom of what took place on that morning, the only logical step is to conduct an investigation via screenshots from the time-lapse camera.

So with the greatest of attention to detail, let’s go back to August 9th to figure out what Hugh Freeze and the CHEATIN REBEL BEARS™ were really up to.

The morning began like most summer mornings on campus. Slow and quiet, with the sporadic sounds of construction breaking the air.

All of that was about to change, however. Just before 11 a.m. CT, activity, NAY, potential sinister activity began in the south end zone.

It’s clear that once the pointing began, which was no doubt related to cheating activities, we start to see the execution of a devious plan, involving a hole, that was set in motion months ago.

15 minutes later, everything was going smoothly.

But the work is interrupted by a lawn-mowing intruder.

While the dutiful employee does his or her job, some of the conspirators emerge.

Before they can get the shovels in position, a turn has been made.

After a few more laps, it’s safe for the conspirators to emerge from their lair.

As progress is made, it’s time for an assessment of the hole.

In the above image, we see three men working on this mysterious hole, which, at this point, has obviously progressed beyond the guise of a “leaky pipe.” The next recorded shot reveals a chilling discovery.

MY WORD. WHO COULD BE BEHIND SUCH A THING?

AS IF YOU HAD ANY OTHER SUSPECTS IN MIND. THE THING IS... wait, hold on...

After a delightful meal in The Grill at 1810 (ARE ARCHIE AND ELI INVOLVED AS WELL?), the digging resumed, and it was clear what this whole day was about: Hugh Freeze taking care of bag men and their sloppy work.

A MONSTER HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT.

Following a night off that most likely involved all kinds of sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll, Freeze sent his crew back out the next morning to finish covering their tracks.

The real test would be when outsiders strolled by the site of such a cold and calculated crime. Would they notice something odd? Could they tell that were just feet away from evidence that could lock up Freeze and Ole Miss forever?
