College baseball composite top 25, Week 13: It was a rough week for the top 10

New, comments

Three top 10 teams lost over the weekend.

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Well it was a lively weekend at the top of the composite top 25. Three of the top 10 teams (and four if you throw in No. 11 NC State) lost series, causing a shakeup in the Week 13 rankings.

The most understandable loss was Vandy, which played No. 1 Florida tough on the road in Gainesville and bagged a 5-0 win in the middle game. Accordingly, they drop just one spot to No. 11. South Carolina shouldn't feel too bad either after losing two of three from No. 2 Texas A&M.

The biggest fall is Florida State, which goes from No. 5 down to No. 13 after losing two midweek games and dropping a series to Duke. NC State drops five spots to No. 16 after getting swept on the road by No. 5 Louisville.

This is all good news for Ole Miss, which is suddenly in the national seed hunt after sweeping Kentucky (which was coming off a series win over South Carolina). The Rebels close the regular season with a major opportunity on the road in College Station.

Note: The RPI does not factor into the composite top 25. It's just there for reference.
