This time last season, Virginia was 10-14 and in danger of missing the ACC Tournament. But the Cavs rallied to win six of their last eight regular season games, sneaked into the conference tourney, earned an NCAA bid and went on to win the whole damn thing.
Virginia probably doesn't have the horses for a national championship run, but they might be gearing up for another strong finish. Brian O'Connor's club just went on the road to take two of three from then-No. 1 Miami, hauling themselves to a game above .500 in the ACC and into second place in the Coastal division. Virginia, which began the season as a top 15 team, also climbed back into the composite rankings at No. 25.
Miami, meanwhile, dipped down to No. 4, passing the top spot back to Florida, which bounced back from a Friday night loss to take a series from Georgia. Elsewhere in the SEC, Mississippi State reaffirmed its bid for a national seed, bouncing back from last weekend's ugly A&M series by taking two of three on the road in Baton Rouge.
Ole Miss moves up three spots to No. 11 after sweeping a bad Auburn team, while Southern Miss returns to the rankings after winning its C-USA showdown with Rice.
Note: RPI does not factor into the composite top 25 rankings. It's just there for reference.
