College baseball composite top 25: Louisville's looking like a national seed

The Cards made a statement by sweeping Clemson, their first series win over a top-25 RPI opponent.

It was a rocky week for top teams, with four of last week's top 25 losing series.

Mississippi State, fresh off an eye-opening series win over then-No. 1 Florida, went and got swept by Texas A&M, which surges back up to No. 3. Florida State got pummeled by Florida in a midweek game, then dropped two of three to Wake Forest, the first series loss of the season for the Noles. Rounding it off, Oregon State dropped a couple of games to Washington State and South Carolina went down to lowly Georgia.

Perhaps the biggest winner was Louisville. Coming into the week, the biggest knock against the Cards as a national seed was their struggles against other elite teams: they were 3-6 against the RPI top 25. After knocking off Kentucky in midweek and sweeping then-No. 21 Clemson over the weekend, that record is suddenly above .500. Clemson, meanwhile, tumbles out of the rankings after a second straight series loss.
