Ole Miss vs. Memphis baseball postponed by rain

The Rebs get some unexpected rest heading into this weekend's road trip to Starkville. The Memphis game has been postponed to April 19.

Well right after we published our lovely preview of the game, this happened:

The trip to AutoZone Park will have to wait until the makeup on April 19th. The Rebs won in dramatic comeback fashion earlier in the year and will be looking for a series sweep. The Tigers hit .265 as a team and are led by Preseason American Athletic Conference Player of the Year Darien Tubbs, who's only hitting .283 but is the spark plug for Daron Schoenrock's offense.

So the Rebs are off until this weekend's road series in Starkville, where Ole Miss desperately needs a rebound. Last weekend's sweep at the hands of the South Carolina Gamecocks was both hard to watch as a spectator and a baseball enthusiast. The Rebels were simply outclassed by the visiting Gamecocks and were swept at Swayze Field in front of record crowds. Now, No. 5 USC is a damn good ball club who should contend for hardware in Hoover this year. But, Ole Miss was baaaad in every phase of the game and you can bet that they're looking to bounce back in a big way this week.
