The best running back in Mississippi's 2016 class is now an Ole Miss Rebel. Justin Connor, a consensus four-star athlete who committed to Ole Miss way back in August of 2013, has finally made it official and signed his Letter of Intent. The Rebels earned Connor's commitment early and never fretted over it, as overtures from Louisville and MIssissippi State were largely ignored by the North Panola High School star.
He's expected to contribute as a defensive back at the next level.
While North Panola struggled this past season, going just 5-6 on the year, Connor showed out and proved why he was an early priority for the Ole Miss coaching staff. In 2015, Connor rushed for 1,640 yards, averaging 8.2 yards per carry, 199 yards per game, and scored 14 rushing touchdowns over 11 contests. He also played free safety for the Cougars, though he only notched 10 tackles and a lone sack in that role. Still, many recruiting services list Connor as an "athlete" as opposed to a pure running back, highlighting his versatility.
