4-star DB Nigel Knott commits to Alabama over Ole Miss

The Rebel legacy kept things close to the vest for most of the process but finally made his decision and committed to the Tide.

Ole Miss isn't getting Nigel Knott. In a video released Monday afternoon on Bleacher Report, the four-star cornerback announced his intention to sign with Alabama.

The seventh best cornerback in the country and the 62nd-ranked player in the 247Sports composite rankings, Knott would have been a good get for Hugh Freeze since the Rebs are rather thin at corner right now. Tony Bridges, Kendarius Webster, Cam Ordway and Kailo Moore provide decent depth this season, but Bridges and possibly Webster will gone in 2017.

Knott, who ran track in high school, was friends on the rubber with Ole Miss commit DeKaylin Metcalf and current Rebel Armani Linton. He spoke with them throughout the process, but ultimately it wasn't enough to sway him north from Madison to Oxford.

Despite missing out on the in-state product and legacy (Nigel's father, David, played football for the Rebs in the 90s), the Ole Miss looks to be in decent shape moving forward. Three defensive backs are already committed and four-star Shyheim Carter is thought to be a Rebel lean.
