The second College Football Playoff rankings will come out on Tuesday, and Washington seems likely to make its way into the top four after their blowout of California and Texas A&M’s loss to Mississippi State, although Ohio State certainly made its case to be in the discussion with a 62-3 dismantling of Nebraska.
Meanwhile, the Aggies' loss dropped them to 10th in the AP poll.
In addition to the Cornhuskers, Florida, LSU, and Baylor all suffered losses this week. LSU’s is the least damaging, as it came at the hands of Alabama. The most damaging was probably Baylor, who saw any hope of making a New Year’s Six bowl or the playoff vanish as TCU ran all over them for a 62-22 victory. Nebraska tumbled from no. 9 to no. 21 in the AP poll, Florida fell from no. 10 to no. 22, and Baylor fell from no. 13 to no. 25. LSU fell to no. 19 from no. 15.
In terms of big risers, Penn State jumped from no. 20 to no. 12.
In important #MACtion news, Western Michigan remained undefeated with a 52-20 win over Ball State Tuesday night, and is well on its way to being the highest-ranked Group of Five team and earning a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl game. They're currently at no. 14 in the AP poll. Keep rowing that boat, folks.
