Ole Miss is on a bye, but there are still plenty of interesting games to watch this weekend, especially in the SEC (get excited for some Vanderbilt-Kentucky dumpster fire hot garbage!). That starts in College Station, where the Volunteers hope to continue their ability to win despite playing really bad football. The winner gets to pencil in the biggest game of the season when they take on Alabama while the loser will probably sink into SEC mediocrity (at least by their fanbase's standards).
Other interesting story lines include:
- Do LSU players love Coach O enough to kum ba yah them to a victory in the Swamp?
- How fast are people selling their Charlie Strong stock?
- Will UGA finally be able to redeem their season (and firing of Mark Richt) by beating the Cocks?
- Can Bert Bert fire up his Hogs enough to keep it close against Bama in Fayetteville?
Let's get to the picks, shall we?
Week 6 picks against the spread
Spreads we love
Auburn (-2.5) @ MSU: With MSU still not showing many signs of something resembling an offense, we are riding big on Gus Malzahn's fighting for his job for one more week and foresee sad clangas this weekend.
VA Tech @ UNC (-2.5): The Tarheels proved their moxie last week, taking down the Seminoles in Tallahassee. Watching that UNC kicker tomahawk chop after he drilled his 54 yard bomb of a field goal gave me much joy and happiness. Oh how week 1 is so different from week 6. Look for Larry Fedora to continue his upswing this weekend against the Hokies.
Spreads we're split on
LSU (-2.5) @ Florida: Can the Coach O dream live on? I have a gut feeling that Mizzou just isn't that good and the Florida defense will stymie LSU's momentum. I don't think Coach O will be able to lace his team's Gatorade with Red Bull this week in the swamp.
FSU @ Miami (-2.5): One of everyone's favorite playoff picks has been officially bounced after losing last week against the Tar Heels. Mark Richt's Miami squad is quietly ranked #10 in the country...after beating FAMU, FAU, Appalachian State and Georgia Tech. Still, a defense allowing 11 ppg and 250 ypg is nothing to sneeze at. I'm taking the Canes.
Last week's picks
I guess I need to stop being such a Cowherd fanboy because his LOCK OF THE YEAR whiffed big as Michigan only beat Wisconsin 14-7, missing on the 10.5 point spread. Want to take a shower in some haterade? Just check out some of these mentions.
Like to congratulate the Badgers....for emptying my bank account.

Shout out to Zach, who was the only one of us to pick South Carolina to cover the spread against A&M and was also the sole Cupper to finish above .500 for the week. We were relatively split on most games last week and yet no one had a stand out record. Here are the latest standings with last week's record in parentheses.
- 18-11 (62%) Jeff (5-5) and Will (5-5)
- 17-12 (59%) Juco (5-5)
- 16-13 (55%) Zach (6-4) and Ghost (4-6)
- 15-14 (52%) Smeargle (4-6) and Gray (5-5)
- 13-16 (45%) Two Yards (3-7)
- 12-17 (41%) Whiskey (3-7)
- 11-18 (38%) Borkey (4-6)
- 10-19 (34%) Alex (3-7)
