For the second-straight week, Ole Miss faces off with a road opponent in ESPN’s primetime Saturday bloc. And for the second-straight week, the Rebs and their opponent have, shall we say, A BIT OF A HISTORY.
Hugh Freeze travels down to the Bayou to play against his former boss at Ole Miss, one Ed Orgeron, who carries about him a lovable-dadcore-football-coach sort of persona for everyone who isn’t an Ole Miss fan. Orgeron’s tenure in Oxford was, shall we say, tumultuous, replete with stories of forcing injured players to keep playing and reportedly running a full 80-play practice in pads while waiting out a rain delay against Wake Forest. The Rebs lost that game, 27-3.
At any rate, Orgeron seems to have begun the process of righting the ship in Baton Rouge almost immediately, and the formerly beleaguered offense has responded in a big way. At VICE Sports, Mike Pielucci is of the opinion that Orgeron’s road to the full-time head coach at LSU begins Saturday, where a win against a stuttering Ole Miss team could launch the Tigers back into the top 20. It’s not outside the realm of possibility.
DA INTERIM COACH O WANTS TO BE DA HEAD COACH O.
