While this upcoming weekend's college football slate seems a bit lackluster on paper, everyone should know by now that it's these types of weekends that typically flip the table of the seemingly steady college football Monopoly board. There are three top 25 matchups this weekend and one of those includes your very own Rebels. Ole Miss is back in action after the bye and we love the Rebs to cover the spread in Fayetteville. Tennessee is looking to bounce back after their magic miracle pixie dust ran out in College Station but will have to get by Bama to do so. With UNC-Miami and Stanford-Notre Dame, which two teams can bounce back put their season back on track?
Other interesting story lines include:
- Is Dan Mullen tanking the MSU program so he can get out of Starkville?
- Nebraska-Indiana is the sneaky game of the week. The Hoosiers are 2-0 ATS as an underdog. Can they keep it up this weekend against a top 10 Cornhusker squad?
- After LSU's offensive coming out party against Mizzou, they are more than three touchdown favorites against the mustard buzzers... LOLWUT?
Week 7 picks against the spread
Spreads we love
Ole Miss (-7.5) @ Arkansas: The Rebs are now 3-0 ATS in their last three games while the Hogs are 0-3. Bama put up over 500 yards of offense plus a pick-six and a scoop-and-score. We feel confident the Ole Miss offense can do just as much damage, especially with this being a double super secret revenge game.
Mississippi State @ BYU (-7.5): Do you know anything about BYU this season other than they are coming off a win against Michigan State in East Lansing? Even if you don't know much about the Cougars, I'm sure most of y'all saw the first-half shellacking Auburn laid on Dawgs in Starkville last weekend. BYU is 5-1 ATS this season and most of us think they will do it again this weekend.
Ohio State (-10.5) @ Wisconsin: The Buckeyes look like one of the best teams in the country and seem on course for hopefully setting up for a playoff play-in game against Michigan at season's end. All of us except Borkey are taking the Buckeyes.
Spreads we're split on
North Carolina @ Miami (-8.5): Borkey laughed all the way to the bank after being the only one to take Virginia Tech over the Tarheels last week. After UNC only managed a field goal against the Hokies, Miami is favored by a large margin but the spread has already shrunk to anywhere between 6.5-7. Vegas isn't sure what to do with the game and neither are we.
Alabama (-12.5) @ Tennessee: Who knows what kind of Tennesse team will show up? The Vols probably realize that a win against the Tide could rocket them back into the Playoff talks and almost guarantee a trip to Atlanta. I think they keep it within 12.5 in Knoxville but other Cuppers disagree.
Stanford @ Notre Dame (-2.5): Remember when both these teams were preseason New Year's Day bowl favorites? Stanford has been outscored 86-22 in its last two games against Washington and Wazzou while Notre Dame has the 91st-ranked defense in the country. This could be an exciting one as both teams are looking to prevent a tailspin. I'll take the Irish at home.
Last week's picks
