Ole Miss vs. South Carolina basketball OPEN THREAD

The Gamecocks bring their 16-1 (3-1 SEC) record and No. 26 RPI ranking to Oxford for a rehash of last year's wild SEC Tournament showdown.

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The head-spinning craziness of last year's Ole Miss-South Carolina quarterfinal in the SEC Tournament still rankles the Rebel basketball faithful, if only because it contributed to an even more tense Selection Sunday than otherwise would have been. Cocky had to play itself into that game last March, where it met an Ole Miss squad that executed atrocious basketball for long stretches of the second half.

This year, however, the Gamecocks are playing exceptional basketball, having nurtured one of the season's longest unbeaten streaks. Ole Miss, on the other hand, is bouncing up and down through the SEC leg of their schedule, and Tuesday's news that Sebastian Saiz will miss two weeks with a torn retina can't do any sort of good for morale.

With Saiz out, look for Tomasz Gielo and Marcanvis Hymon to pick up more minutes in the low post. Anthony Perez could also make a more involved appearance, up to the point at which his poor shot selection and all around lost puppy schtick become a liability.

You can catch the game at 6 p.m. CT on the SEC Network or stream it on WatchESPN. WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE, FOLKS.
