College football rankings: Ole Miss jumps to No. 3 in AP Poll, No. 5 in Coaches Poll

The Rebs made the biggest leap of the week, scaling six spots after upsetting Bama on the road.

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

After escaping Tuscaloosa with a 43-37 win damn-near cost me my sanity and liver, the Ole Miss has made major moves in the weekly polls. The Rebs jumped from No. 11 all the way up to No. 5 in the Amway Coaches Poll and now tied with TCU at No. 3 in the AP Poll.

Over at the SB Nation mothership, Spencer Hall has Ole Miss at No. 1 in his Top Whatever and the bowl projections have the Rebs beating Baylor in the Orange Bowl to advance to the national championship against Ohio State. Holy hell that felt weird typing that.

Bama, meanwhile, drops 10 spots to No. 12 in the Coaches. If you're asking my opinion, that's far too steep of a drop for a team that got some admittedly tough breaks and still managed to claw their way to within a last-minute drive of a win. And they lost to a pretty damn good team.

Oh, and how the exact fuck is Auburn still ranked by the coaches?
