It's that time of year again. The time when blue-chip croots embark on the gorgeous grounds of the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. and get outfitted in super cool neon colors, brand new, top of the line Nike equipment that no one else has seen yet, all in the name of friendly competition to see who is the best croot of them all. Yes, I'm talking about Nike's The Opening. Still don't know what I'm talking about? Here is a primer of everything you need to know about the event.
In case you have been under a rock for the past few months, you already know that Shea Patterson has been in Oregon competing in the Elite 11 Finals with 17 other finalists. Joining him this week were tons of other croots who came to compete in The Opening competition. Now that everyone is there, the 7on7 competition can begin.
Patterson will now be joining forces with fellow Ole Miss commit D.K. Metcalf on the LunarBeast squad along with five Ohio State commits and five Southern Cal commits. They will be taking on team Fly Rush in their first game of pool play which features Rebel targets four-star WR A.J. Brown from Starkville, Miss. and four-star DB Joejuan Williams from Hendersonville, Tenn.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: the first game of pool play has already finished as Fly Rush defeated LunarBeast 8-0)
