Podcast Rebellion 1.21: Baseball is over and Phil Steele really likes the Rebels

Diamondbearz season has come to a close, Phil Steele is all about the Rebels and Bork got a pet.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

On this week's Podcast Rebellion: 1/2 Beach Edition, the fellas discuss the quick exit for the Rebels at the Los Angeles Regional and all the attention that Hugh Freeze's squad is getting with four months left before the 2015 season kicks off September 5th against UT-Martin.

Despite the Rebels' struggles this season, there was some optimism that they could make some noise in Hollywood and make life difficult for No. 1 overall seed UCLA. Unfortunately, Maryland and Mike Shawaryn had other plans as they shut down Ole Miss and cruised to a 3-1 victory. After that, Mike Bianco's club continued to struggle against CSU Bakersfield and went "two and through". This season could be considered one of Bianco's best coaching jobs despite the underwhelming 30-28 record.

In more positive news, Phil Steele released his ever so popular pre-season rankings and awards and the Rebels raked in plenty of accolades. Borkberry discuss whether this is now or never for Freeze and Co. and if this team can handle another season of missed opportunities. Also, Bork has a new pet and needs your help. Please oblige him and enter in some names in the comments below, he would really appreciate it.

  • Can Ole Miss rebound next season and get back to a Super Regional?
  • Who will replace Sikes Orvis?
  • Is Evan Engram a first-team All-SEC tight end?
  • Is Nick Saban invincible?
  • Are you now a fan of the BRB Blazers?
