We won't have to wait much longer to find out where elite hoops prospect Malik Newman will be spending his college career only college season. Per Courtney Cronin of The Clarion-Ledger, the McDonald's All American has set his announcement date for this Friday at noon CT, when he'll choose between Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
You'll be able to watch it online; the Clarion-Ledger, which has done an admittedly excellent job of owning the coverage of Newman's recruitment, will have the exclusive live-stream available on its website.
There was a time when Rebel fans were rightfully optimistic about landing the services of the Jackson, Miss. native and No. 4 overall prospect in the country. But with a sudden swath of playing time opening up in Lexington and Ben Howland's hiring lacquering some gloss on the program in Starkville, Kentucky and State have emerged as the late favorites, with LSU a distant third.
Keep in mind that Newman's said he doesn't plan on signing a national letter of intent (a growing trend among elite hoops recruits), so Friday's decision isn't a binding one.
