Podcast Rebellion 1.6: Not a great week for Ole Miss basketball or baseball

The podcast tackles the burning questions of what is wrong with Jarvis Summers, what can the Diamondbearz do to get the bats going and what is going on 11 months before National Signing Day 2016.

We are now officially in the month of March. So as if there hasn't been enough Basketbear madness, the Rebels went ahead and handed you two helpings this past week. Also, the boys on the diamond had a rough go at it in Orlando against the Golden Knights of Central Florida.

The Rebels turned in a sub-par performance in a snowed-in Rad Pad last week against the Georgia Bulldogs and added another home loss to their NCAA Tournament resume. With the combination of hot shooting from the boys from Athens, poor shooting from Moody and Co. and Mark Fox somewhat solving the usually reliable 1-3-1 defense for Andy Kennedy, it was not a good night for Ole Miss.

On Saturday, the Rebels once again showed signs of fatigue down the stretch. Or maybe it was just LSU playing inspired basketball and putting Ole Miss away with vigor. Either way, the Rebels lost a key resume-building game and in the worst way. Stefan Moody and Jarvis Summers once again could not find the hoop and Snoop White turned in yet another uncharacteristic performance. Altogether, it wasn't pretty and the Rebels need to turn it around quick in order to put a positive stamp on their resume before heading to postseason play.

Mike Bianco led his boys down to Florida in hopes of finding some sunshine and a non-conference series win over a ranked opponent. Well, as the theme of the weekend goes, it just wasn't in the cards. Christian Trent was once again brilliant, but the Rebels gave away a four-run lead and UCF won on a walk-off. Saturday was rained out so Sunday was a doubleheader and a disappointing one in that. The Rebs did salvage the series and win the second game behind a solid performance from Sam Smith.

Not to be forgotten, the boys discuss some of the early targets for Ole Miss on the recruiting front as we look towards the building of the 2016 class and the 2017 class as well. There have been tons of offers extended to many top prospects, including a son of a former Super Bowl Champ. They talk about some names to keep an eye on as well as a early look at spring practice storylines.
