CeCe Jefferson commits to Florida over Ole Miss and Auburn

The Rebels miss out on the five-star defensive end.

After a year of back and forth with Ole Miss and Florida, CeCe Jefferson has elected to stay home in the Sunshine State. The five-star defensive end passed on the Rebels and committed to Florida on National Signing Day.

From a town just up the road from  Gainesville, the 6'2, 275-pound monster visited Oxford multiple times and had a great relationship with Chris Kiffin but it wasn't enough to fight off the late surge by Jim McElwain and his staff. After interacting with multiple recruits at the U.S. Army All-America Game and then taking his final visits, Jefferson narrowed it down to Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida and Alabama. But, the allure of playing for his home state was too much to overcome.

It's a disappointing loss for Hugh Freeze considering the Rebels were in the running so late and Jefferson isn't the type of talent you can easily find elsewhere. Ole Miss is stacked on the D-line right now, but with a host of key players departing after the 2015 season -- including Isaac Gross and (most likely) Robert Nkemdiche -- adding Jefferson would have been huge.
