Podcast Rebellion 1.5: Crootin, Basketbearz and Diamondbearz OH MY!

The bros break down the week that was with crootin, basketball, baseball and give their takes on Nick Saban and Wes Rucker.

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

Another week of Rebel sports, another podcast that had to be done. This past week saw the Basketbearz win two huge games on the hardwood, baseball take two of three from the mighty Raiders from Wright State and football picked up another four-star croot.

This is becoming a trend for Hugh Freeze and Co. in this 2016 class. David Luafatasaga committed to the Rebels this weekend. The four-star OLB joins the top five class as the no. 1 outside linebacker in the JUCO ranks and will look to challenge for playing time early as a mid-year enrollee. This is a huge get for the Rebels as linebacker is a big-time position of need.

Randy Kennedy just continues to make a case for himself to be considered for SEC Basketball Coach of the Year as the Rebels keep their winning ways going against Mississippi State on Thursday and Tennessee on Saturday. Stefan Moody scored 29 at the Hump to lead the Rebels on the road and then scored 22 against the Volunteers at the Rad Pad to help Ole Miss squeak by to move to 10-4 in conference play. Listen as the fellas discuss what this means and what they can expect for the final few weeks of the season.

The Rebels got their third and fourth wins of the season on the weekend as they win the opener on a frigid Friday and then win the second leg of a shortened doubleheader on Sunday. Christian Trent was dominant, again, on Friday night as the Rebels cruised. On Sunday, Brady Bramlett struck out a career-high 11 but the Rebel bats went cold. Then, Sam Smith pitched well but took a no-decision before Wyatt Short got the win in a relief effort that saw the boys string some hits together to win 3-2 and take the series. How will the Diamondbearz do against a tough Arkansas State club on Tuesday before hitting the road to take on the Golden Knights of Central Florida?

To close the podcast, we discuss Michael's hot take on why Nick Saban is overrated and why Wes Rucker is no fun on Twitter. Is Nick Saban a legitimate X's and O's coach? Will Wes Rucker ever get over the fact that the Rebel faithful has gotten under his skin?

As we alluded to on this week's episode, we will now be on iTunes. It has been submitted and is under review. I will post the normal SoundCloud widget below to listen. We appreciate all y'all listening and hope this makes it easier for us to get our hot takes out for all to hear once it has been approved to be on iTunes.
