We've known Ole Miss would be the SEC's Sugar Bowl representative since Bama whipped Florida's ass in the SEC Championship on Saturday afternoon, so Sunday's official reveal was but a formality. Still, this feels pretty good to say:
Ole Miss will play Oklahoma State in the 2016 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
After telling us that Clemson, Alabama, Michigan State and Oklahoma will face off in the Playoff, the selection committee released the rest of the final top 25 a couple hours later. Ole Miss and Oklahoma State moved up one spot apiece, coming in at No. 12 and No. 16, respectively. If the Rebs can win this last game, they'll likely land in the top 10.
Florida, who two weeks ago was the biggest threat to finishing ahead of Ole Miss in the rankings and keeping the Rebs out of the Sugar Bowl, finished a distant No. 19, a one-spot drop after their loss in Atlanta. No. 20 LSU and No. 23 Tennessee were the only other SEC teams ranked.
The rest of the New Year's Six bowls
Fiesta Bowl: No. 7 Ohio State vs. No. 8 Notre Dame
Peach Bowl: No. 9 Florida State vs. No. 18 Houston
Rose Bowl: No. 5 Iowa vs. No. 6 Stanford
