Denzel Nkemdiche's condition is not life threatening, but he won't play vs. LSU

Hugh Freeze and Denzel's parents released a statement about the linebacker's condition.

The medical issue that landed Denzel Nkemdiche in an Oxford hospital is not life threatening, Hugh Freeze revealed in a joint statement with the linebacker's parents on Thursday afternoon.

His well-being is all that matters right now, and we are making sure he receives the highest level of medical care. While his condition is not life-threatening, he will not play this weekend. We thank the Ole Miss family for their concern and encouragement, and we appreciate everyone respecting the family's privacy during this time.

Amid a torrent of rumors, Freeze revealed on Wednesday afternoon that Nkemdiche was dealing with a "personal matter" and was questionable for Saturday's tilt in Oxford. A few hours later, Neal McCready of RebelGrove.com reported that Denzel was in the ICU at Baptist Memorial Hospital after being "found" sometime on Monday. There's been no confirmation as to what exactly landed him there, but we're relieved to hear he's okay.
